The 2021 Azerbaijan Grand Prix started on June 4 with Formula 2 practice session. In the first minutes, Marino Sato’s car crashed into the wall and the front right wheel damaged. Then Lirim Zendeli’s car got off the track and got stuck on the 16th turn. Towards the end of the session, Roy Nissany crashed and seriously damaged his car, but left the car safely. The time left for the Qualifying session was very short, thus he couldn’t attend the session as the team didn’t manage to repair it soon. Liam Lawson and his teammate Jüri Vips took the first two positions in the Qualifying session.

There were no big incidents during Formula 1 practice session, however in multiple occasions experienced going off the track. Yuki Tsunoda and Pierre Gasly from AlphaTauri, Lewis Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas from Mercedes, all going off the track during the session. Aston Martin’s Sebastian Vettel also experienced the same during the session.
